A small working copy is sent to compute the cutout, your browser then applies the returned mask to the original pixels locally, and nothing is kept on our side — the working copy exists only long enough to return the result and is discarded immediately afterwards. The finished image lives only in your downloads folder, with no account and no gallery holding a copy. If our service is unreachable or blocked by a strict ad blocker, a lighter fallback runs on your own device instead so the page keeps working. If you would rather nothing left your device at all, the private mode at /private-background-remover/ processes everything locally.
Do I need to sign up to download the high-resolution version?
No account, no email, no payment. The high-resolution download is available straight away, the same as the preview. There is no watermark on personal exports and no daily quota for typical use. The free tier exists because the heavy lifting happens on your device, so there is nothing to meter.
