bol.com Background Remover
Upload your product shot. We cut to RGB 255 white, pad to 1200 × 1200 so the bol.com zoom activates, and keep the first-image rules airtight — no shadow, no models, no combined views.

1200 × 1200 zoom activation
bol.com technically accepts 500 × 500, but the zoom feature only turns on at 1200 × 1200 — we pad every export to the zoom-ready size.
Clean cut-out, zero shadow
The first image has to read as a shadowless cut-out on white. Our removal preserves product edges while wiping residual shadow and stage.
July 2025 rules respected
bol.com relaxed active enforcement of optimization guidelines on 1 July 2025, but self-promotion rules still apply. Our output has no watermarks, logos, or promo overlays — safe under both regimes.
How to prep a bol.com first image
Upload the product shot
JPG or PNG from your studio, phone, or a wholesaler catalog — up to 10 MB, out of the packaging where possible.
Cut and pad to 1200 square
We remove the background to pure white, center the product so white-space pixels don't pad out the required minimum, and output a 1:1 square.
Upload to bol.com
Drop the file into the Partnerplatform or Leveranciersplatform image slot — or push via ChannelEngine, Channable, or Effectconnect.
Who this is for
Dutch general-retail sellers
Books, home, electronics, baby, media — bol.com's gravity is general retail, and the first-image rule cuts the same way across every category.
Belgian Wallonia partners
French-facing sellers in Belgium run the same spec. The preset output is locale-neutral and works on nl-NL, fr-BE, and nl-BE storefronts alike.
Zalando cross-listers
Running apparel on both bol.com and Zalando is common. Our 1200 × 1200 white cut-out plays cleanly against Zalando's ghost-mannequin packshots as a first image.
Post-July-2025 sellers catching up
Enforcement relaxed but the ranking signal didn't. A compliant first image still lifts zoom, search, and Google Shopping feed performance.
bol.com first-image background remover
bol.com is the Dutch and Belgian general-retail reference point, and its first-image rule is the one most new Partnerplatform sellers get wrong. Technically the platform accepts 500 × 500 pixels, but the zoom feature — which buyers use constantly on the product detail page — only activates at 1200 × 1200 and above. Anything smaller technically uploads but performs worse in search and conversion. The first image also has to be a clean cut-out on white RGB 255 with no visible shadow, no combined front/side/back collage, no models, and no lifestyle elements. Secondary images can go lifestyle and contextual, particularly for home, garden, and living categories where in-situ photography is expected. Our tool is built to the first-image rule specifically. You upload a product shot, we isolate the subject, drop a pure white canvas, center the product so bol.com's 'white space doesn't count toward the minimum' rule is respected, and pad the output to a 1:1 square at 1200 × 1200 so the zoom activates the moment the listing goes live.
The July 2025 enforcement change matters and we handle it directly. As of 1 July 2025, bol.com stopped actively enforcing the main-image optimization guidelines on upload — meaning non-compliant images will generally not be force-rejected at ingestion. But the self-promotion rules — no watermarks, no company logos on the image surface, no discount labels, no promotional text like 'buy now' or 'cheap' or 'free shipping' — remain enforced. The practical read is that the first-image spec is now best-practice for visibility and conversion rather than a hard upload gate, but the commercial incentive to comply is intact. A compliant first image still activates zoom, still performs better in bol.com's internal search ranking, and still feeds cleanly into the Google Shopping product feed. Our preset outputs imagery that passes both regimes — the pre-July enforcement and the post-July best-practice — so you don't have to re-export if the rules tighten back up.
Why bol.com partners use this preset
The Dutch partner audience is professional, not casual. bol.com's seller-facing copy uses the formal u / uw register because the sellers are real retailers and wholesalers, not Marktplaats C2C hobbyists. A cut-out on white at 1200 × 1200 is the baseline professional listing image — zoom activates, search picks it up, Google Shopping accepts the feed, and the Partnerplatform QC desk has no ammunition to flag you. This preset removes the manual steps: the shadow cleanup, the padding to the zoom-activation size, the JPEG quality tuning, the check that no watermark or store badge is on the frame. Drop your product file in, get a compliant first image back, and spend your editing time on the secondary gallery where lifestyle and context actually move conversion.
